| Biography: |
Eric Byrnes enters the first year of his 3-year, $30 million contract. He may need a repeat of his career year of 2007 to remain a fan favorite in Arizona; Carloses Gonzalez and Quentin were forced out of the outfield picture due to Byrnes' deal.
Unfortunately, a bad hamstring limited Byrnes' effectiveness untl he finally landed on the DL in late May.
Byrnes began a three-day rehab assignment in Visalia on June 19th before returning to action on the 23rd. The D-backs went 9-16 in his absence. He was only back with the team for seven days before he re-injured a hammy and returned to the DL.
2007 Highlights
* Became the first D-Back ever to hit 20 homers and steal 50 bases in one season
* Stole 30 consecutive bases from July 7 - September 17, the longest streak in the majors this year
* Hit .297 vs. RHP; his previous high was .260
* Ranked 4th in the NL with 12 outfield assists |
